The Queensland Air Museum is a ‘people’s museum’, located alongside Caloundra Aerodrome in Queensland, Australia. Its mission is to preserve Australia’s aviation heritage. The museum has the largest and most diverse collection of historical aircraft in Australia, along with a large collection of aero-engines, artefacts, photographs, books and reference materials. The Mach One podcast and the QAM Oral History Project aim to preserve the human stories of Australian aviation.
Mach one
Since January 2022, the Mach One podcast has presented interesting weekly, half-hour interviews with the people who have served Australian aviation, in the air and on the ground, as well as featuring the aircraft and the restoration projects of the Queensland Air Museum.
The podcast conversations appeal to a growing band of loyal listeners across Australia and around the world. The episodes are aimed at the interested general audience and, while aiming for accuracy, they are not overly technical.

YOUR HOST GARRY HILLS
Queensland Air Museum volunteer Garry Hills produces and hosts the Mach One podcast. Garry brings a lifelong interest in aviation to these interviews, as well as experience in media and podcasting.
There are so many interesting stories and perspectives that deserve to be preserved and shared. As Garry asks our fascinating guests the questions that an interested general audience might ask, he is delighted to say that he learns something new about Australia’s aviation history with every conversation. Hopefully the same will be true for you.
