BOOKINGS AND HIRE

We are excited to announce that our Boeing 737 simulator is now prepped and ready for take off!

After almost a year of hard work by our team of dedicated volunteers, our Boeing 737-800 simulator is ready to fly! The simulator is a reconstruction of a full-sized cockpit.

The simulator gives you an incredibly realistic full-immersion experience! From the roar of your jet engines to the stunning visuals, this is a highly immersive experience. The detailed images that you will see from your seat in the cockpit provide you a stunning 200-degree view of the airport runway as you take off, the skies and clouds as you climb and accurate landscapes beneath you as you look down from your cruising altitude.

You will be briefed by your Sim Guide who will act as your co-pilot explaining all that you will need to know to successfully fly and land this iconic jet airliner.

  • Do I need to know anything about flying?

No, all visitors are welcome to book the flight simulator experience. One of our friendly Sim Guides will be in the First Officer’s seat guiding you for the duration of your flight. We want you to have a great experience while learning something new.Longer, more in depth flight experiences for those interested in more advanced virtual flights are under development and will be available soon! The QAM B737 simulator experience is provided for entertainment, enjoyment and as with other QAM exhibits, it is provided to enable visitors to learn more about Australia's aviation heritage. The QAM B737 simulator is not developed or available as a training simulator. Flight training is not provided by QAM.

  • Is this experience suitable for an experienced pilot?

The Beginner’s Experience assumes no piloting experience at all. Having said that, a licensed pilot who wants to ‘get the feel’ of a 737-800 won’t be disappointed and is very welcome to book a flight. More advanced flight experiences for experienced pilots will be available soon!

  • Is there a minimum age for the experience?

Yes. Children and teens 14 years of age and older can enjoy the experience (also check our height restrictions). A parent or guardian must accompany anyone under the age of 18. Please remember that the simulator is not a toy or video game, so participants must be able to respond to instructions and respect the simulator at all times.

  • Can I bring a friend/family member?

Yes, there are chairs for two “passengers” (ages 14 and up) in the back of the simulator. Unless you are under 18 and accompanied by an adult, your guests will be able to see what you and the coach are doing and look at the scenery outside the windscreen, however, your guests must pay the standard QAM entry fee.

  • Is this a motion simulator?

No. This is a static simulator so there is no motion. However, the 210° wrap-around screen can give you the sensation of movement.

  • Can I get motion sickness from my experience?

It is unlikely, but it is possible. The simulator does not move, but the scenery is projected onto a 210° wrap-around screen, so there will be moving images in your peripheral vision. If you are prone to motion sickness, please tell your Sim Guide before your flight.

  • What should I wear?

Wear comfortable pants or shorts (dresses and skirts are not recommended) with closed flat shoes (open sandals, and thongs are prohibited).
